I have these pills that were prescribed for a large bruise I had on my leg that was presistant. The bruise is now gone and I have pills left. I suffer from gout, and it is bad. Unlucky me has no health insurance so Dr. visits cost a pretty penny. Any help would be good I’m in pain.

i get gouty attacks an have become use to them an know how to treat ‘em. back home (usa) everytime i got an attack my dr would give me “allopurinol” and some other med and sen me on my way. when i got my first attack in hina my gf went to the pharmacy and told them i had “the gout”. she came back with an “otc” called “colchicine tablets”. perhaps these are the same medss that my dr back home prescribed but each tab is 10mg. the tabs of the “other stuff” my dr presribed were 50mg. but being these ones (here) are an otc they probably had to make ‘em 10mg each.
this last attack was pretty bad. i was popping the colchicine tabs like pez but it seemed to have no affect. and i was drinkin water like a horse and that seemed to worsen the attack. i went to the er and the dr gave me an IV of glucose and an otc called “saridon”. which of course were both new treatments to me. he said in severe cases this treatment is needed.
i know gout is caused by elevated levels of “uric acid”; according to my blood test my uric acid level was “off the chart”.
i just don’t understand why the mass consumption of water worsened the attack. or maybe it just seemed that way. and why id a glucose IV work much better? its been a long time since my college chemistry class. but i know water is used to dilute acids. but maybe “suger water” works much better?

My husband has been having severe pain, redness and swelling in his right foot.It has been diagnoised as gout.It has not responded at all to the usual treatments such as steroid injections,NSAIDs,cocholine or narcotic pain meds.Im begining to wonder if it is indeed gout. What else could it be? He has no visible openings in his skin that would led one to think of an infectious process. Any help would greatly be appreciated as we are at the end of our rope.

What would be the treatment for gout in the left index finger?

Would it be different than the treatment for gout in the right index finger? Hmmm?
Yahoo wanted to put this question in “other” health. Can you imagine that?

I’ve had battles with gout off and on for a couple of years. I don’t know why but the attacks always get worse when the weather warms up even a little bit. I never have an attack in the winter. I quit drinking so that should help. I haven’t seen anything about drinking soda but I swear that when I drink soda my gout gets real bad. I can’t take antiinflammatory drugs and this other medicine I’ve taken in the past takes the pain away but makes me sicker than a dog. The only thing that seems to help is cherry juice but I can only find it at the health food store for like $16 and it only lasts a couple of weeks. The cababage leaf thing was nasty and didn’t do anything for my foot. I’ve had gout so bad I couldn’t even walk from my car to the pharmacy to get my medicine. My question is what else works? Do I have to drink the actual cherry juice or could I take some sort of capsule? If you’ve had gout what has worked for you to prevent or cure the symptoms?

A friend of mine thinks(believes) that Juniper berries are a natural cure – He drinks Gin because of that. He says the berries combined with the alcohol helps his gout….to me, I see it as an excuse to be an alcoholic!…altho he does have gout, I’ve seen it. He tried to detox at my house and his ankle swelled up to the size of a football…he ended up taking a couple of shots of Gin and the swelling eventually went down over the next 12 hrs…So, I’m asking if anyone knows of a natural way to treat Gout – without the alcohol-?
PS: yes, I did tell him to use Gin as medicinal rather than drinking to the point of passing out.
