feizty1 asked:

My 71 yr old father has the following: stage 4 renal failure, 10% heart function, diabetes, vascular disease, congestive heart failure, gout. He is not a candidate for surgery, dialysis or any aggressive treatment. He has an ulcer, black-blue area on the bottom of his foot and 3 toes. BUN = 149, Creat =5.55;Brain NATR PEPT=644. He is in deep, chronic pain that is never completely removed. I live 1300 miles away so I depend on feedback from a mother that is not dealing well. My father is in denial of his health and does not acknowledge that death is probably more near than far. Or am I wrong in my thinking? One doctor said 2 years. I am not financially set to quit work for 2 years, but if it’s a matter of weeks I would like to take family leave. I appreciate any input.

His condition is very serious and you should try to contact the Doctor that wrote the report on his condition to get a fair assessment. A person in this condition could die at any time.
